Terms of Service

These are the rules of using Dakish. By creating an account or using the app or the website at dakish.app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use Dakish.

Dakish is a consumer-to-consumer barter marketplace for Lebanon. Users list items they no longer want, find items they do, and swap. Dakish is not a party to any trade — we provide the meeting place, not the deal.

1. Who's providing this

Dakish is operated by Maroun Hashem, an individual based in Lebanon. Contact: [email protected].

2. Who can use Dakish

• You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under 18, we assume your parent or legal guardian has read these terms and consents on your behalf.
• You must provide a real email address and be able to receive one-time codes at it.
• One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to evade a ban or manipulate the platform is prohibited.
• You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe. If you lose access, contact support.

3. What you can post

You can list items you own and are legally allowed to give away or exchange. You can post photos, titles, and descriptions of those items. You can leave reviews of people you've swapped with. You can ask questions on other people's listings.

You keep ownership of everything you post. By posting, you grant Dakish a non-exclusive worldwide license to store, display, and moderate that content on the app and website, for as long as your content is on Dakish. This license ends when you delete the content or your account (except for completed swap records — see §7).

4. What you cannot post or do

The following are prohibited. Violations lead to content removal and, in serious cases, account termination. Some are also crimes under Lebanese or international law and may be reported to authorities.

Prohibited items

• Weapons, ammunition, or explosives
• Drugs, prescription medications, or drug paraphernalia
• Stolen goods, or items you don't have the right to trade
• Counterfeit or replica branded goods
• Endangered species or products from them (ivory, coral, etc.)
• Human remains or body parts
• Live animals, unless local law explicitly permits their private exchange
• Government IDs, passports, or other official documents
• Adult / sexual content
• Items primarily intended for hate speech or terrorism
• Anything else prohibited by Lebanese law

Prohibited behavior

• Harassment, threats, hate speech, or discrimination based on race, religion, gender, sexuality, or disability
• Scams, phishing, or any attempt to defraud another user
• Impersonating another person, a public figure, or Dakish itself
• Posting personal contact info (phone, email, address) in public threads or listing descriptions. Keep it in the app until the offer is accepted. Direct messages unlock once you've agreed to a swap — that's where meeting details go.
• Sharing someone else's personal information without their consent
• Spamming, cross-posting, or bulk-listing to game visibility
• Attempting to bypass our moderation, security, or rate limits
• Using automated tools (bots, scrapers) to interact with Dakish, except for personal-use RSS-style tools that don't stress our infrastructure
• Operating as a commercial reseller while presenting as a private individual

5. Moderation and reporting

Every user can report content or users they believe violate these terms. Our moderation team reviews reports and may take one or more of the following actions:

• Remove specific content
• Send a warning
• Temporarily restrict account features
• Permanently ban the account
• Reject a pending listing during pre-publish review (when the moderation queue is active)

You can also block any other user directly, which hides you from each other across the app. Reports and blocks are both accessible from any user's profile and from any listing detail screen. Moderation decisions are final at our discretion, but you may appeal a ban or removal by emailing [email protected].

6. How trading works — and what Dakish is not responsible for

Dakish helps you find someone to swap with. That's it. Once you and the other party agree on a trade, everything after — meeting, inspecting each other's items, exchanging them — happens between the two of you, offline, at your own risk.

Dakish does not:

• Take custody of any items being swapped
• Guarantee that items match their descriptions
• Guarantee that either party will show up or behave honestly
• Provide insurance, escrow, or refund services
• Verify the ownership of items unless the seller uses the optional ID verification feature (which verifies the person, not the item)

Trade at your own risk. Meet in a public place. Inspect items before exchanging. If a trade goes wrong, we will help by reviewing reports and moderating accordingly, but we are not a party to your transaction and cannot resolve disputes between you as an arbitrator.

7. Verification, reviews, and trust signals

Dakish surfaces trust signals — verified badges, star ratings, completed-swap counts, trusted-seller status — to help users make better decisions. These are indicators, not guarantees. A verified profile means we've reviewed a government ID and confirmed a real person is behind the account. It does not mean we vouch for that person's honesty or the quality of their listings.

Reviews are honest, first-person feedback from a completed swap. Manipulating reviews (buying, coercing, or exchanging positive reviews) is prohibited and treated as fraud.

8. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account. This deletes your profile, active listings, private messages, follows, and saved items. Completed swap history and reviews you left on other people remain (as anonymous "deleted user" entries) so the community trust signals stay intact. Your handle is reserved for 90 days after deletion to prevent immediate impersonation.

9. Suspension and termination by us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, if we're legally required to, or if we reasonably believe you're a risk to the community. In most cases we'll explain why. In cases involving serious fraud, illegal activity, or safety threats, we may act without prior notice.

10. Intellectual property

The Dakish name, logo, brand marks, and the design of the app and website are owned by Maroun Hashem. Don't use them without permission.

If you believe someone on Dakish is infringing your intellectual property (a counterfeit product, an unauthorized use of your photos), email [email protected] with details of the claim, proof of ownership, and the listing URL. We'll review promptly.

11. Warranties and liability

Dakish is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We do our best to keep the service running, secure, and accurate, but we don't guarantee it will always work, be error-free, or meet your specific needs.

To the maximum extent permitted by Lebanese law, Dakish is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform, including — but not limited to — losses from a swap that went wrong. Your sole remedy for any dispute with Dakish is to stop using the service.

12. Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we'll notify you via an in-app banner and, where we can, by email, at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of Dakish after the effective date of a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Lebanon. Any dispute arising from your use of Dakish will be resolved by the competent Lebanese courts, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under the laws of the country where you reside.
